Birthday Paint by Numbers Card: Add a Name and Age
· Make and print · By Painting by Numbers Tool
A name on the front makes the card yours to give; the colour numbers stay inside the balloons. This birthday paint by numbers card maker adds a name and optional age to a free A4 fold card. It runs in your browser and downloads A4 PDFs and PNG images, without an account or uploading the name.
Birthday paint by numbers: make the card
Optional screen images:
The preview starts with the sample name Alex. Replace it before downloading. The age is optional and appears as “Celebrating…” below the name; it is never used as a colour code.
Fold the colour key behind the balloons
The downloaded PDF has an explicit A4 landscape page: 297 × 210 mm. The numbered balloons and greeting occupy the right half. Fold the left half behind it along the centre line to make an A5 card, 148.5 × 210 mm, with a blank inside for your message.
- Enter the name and optional age, then choose Create card. Inspect the preview, especially a long name.
- Download the outline PDF and colour-reference PDF. Optional PNG copies are for screen viewing; use the PDFs for a fixed print size.
- Print the outline PDF on A4 landscape at actual size (100%). Turn off fit-to-page and check a spare copy first.
- Measure the centre fold: it should be 148.5 mm from either side. Do not crop the image to fill the page.
- Colour the six balloon areas using the key on the left. Let wet work dry, fold the left half behind the front and write inside.
| Balloon | Numbers | Suggested pair |
|---|---|---|
| Left | 1 and 2 | Ochre and pale gold |
| Middle | 3 and 4 | Brick red and soft coral |
| Right | 5 and 6 | Muted green and pale green |
Keep the name out of the numbered drawing
We separated the greeting from the paintable regions deliberately. A birthday age such as 6 should not look like an instruction to use paint number 6, and a long name should not push small numbers into the balloons.
The name field allows up to 25 characters and reduces the type size when needed. That is a layout aid, not a guarantee that every name looks equally good. If the preview becomes too small, use a shorter familiar name on the front and write the full message inside.
A digital card still needs a paper test
The composer, PDF page size and centre fold are checked digitally; no physical printing, painting or folding trial is claimed. Print dialogs can still scale a PDF automatically. If the fold measurement is wrong, change those settings before painting.
Pencils are a simple starting point on printer paper. Wet paint needs suitable stock and an ink test, and the printer must accept that stock. The six swatches are suggestions, not branded paint references.
The paint by numbers colour count guide explains substitutions. Paint by numbers painting order helps with wet edges; large print paint by numbers explains why smaller printing changes usability.
Check the recipient’s name before you print
For a separate photo project, use the free preview in Painting By Numbers. An own-photo printable paint by numbers PDF is a paid option. The birthday composer here stays free and does not include paints or paper.
Make one card with the intended name, inspect the downloaded image and print a spare sheet. Once the name and centre fold look right, the inside is ready for the part a template cannot supply: your message.
